Types of Blocks

Advantages and disadvantages of static blocks

Static blocks offer three key advantages: portability as pure HTML, superior performance through direct database output, and full inner blocks support with proper nesting storage in the database.

The main disadvantage is markup modification difficulty. Changes require migration functions that extract data from old markup and resave with new structure, typically requiring users to open and save posts individually.

Export capabilities work seamlessly with any tool since static blocks contain actual HTML content. This makes them ideal for content that doesn’t change programmatically and needs maximum portability.
