Implementing Layout Settings

What are the layout settings?

Layout settings in WordPress control three essential aspects of your block theme’s structure and spacing. These foundational settings create the framework for how content appears across your entire site.

Content size and wide size work together to control content width – content size sets the default width for readability, while wide size allows blocks to break out wider when needed. This gives users flexible layout options while maintaining good typography.

Block spacing (also called block gap) creates consistent spacing between all blocks throughout your site, eliminating browser inconsistencies and creating a unified design system.

Root padding prevents content from bumping against browser edges on mobile devices, while root padding aware alignments ensures full-width elements still work properly when padding is applied.
